This is Glenda Devlin, an award winning innovator with a passion to improve life for those living with dementia or grappling with social isolation.
She has been developing an app that can revolutionise the way we reminisce and share memories.
Glenda was inspired by her late Aunt Peggy who was diagnosed with dementia and wanted to help her and everyone else affected by personal isolation. She decided to do something that could help caregivers, carents and loved ones to share memories and smile.
What is Peggi?
Research shows that reminiscing helps to reduce isolation and improve feelings of wellbeing but mainstream social media can seem too intrusive, and overwhelming for vulnerable people. Some people want something which is simpler and safer to use.
That’s where ‘Peggi’ comes in. Peggi is a private and safe digital app designed to connect loved ones together so they can share and make precious memories, chat, and even video call. It’s simple to get up and running, easy to use and there are no unwanted ads or outsiders. It’s designed to invite your close family or loved ones to share memories. You can use voice recordings, or write under images to describe photographs that you put on the app.
The Peggi App has been co-designed with people who are affected by dementia or other conditions where reminiscing and memory stimulation can be of benefit. The app can benefit many more people such as caregivers, care home assistants and carents just like you.
It brings loved ones together and is a great tool to use to reminisce, and capture a legacy of precious memories for your family.
You can find the Peggi App in the app store or Google Play store by searching for “peggi app”.
How safe is Peggi?
When you are using the Peggi App it is private, no one has your information or sees your content. Once you stop using the app you can simply delete the contents.
Glenda and the app developers do not share any information about you with anyone else.
Can you help Glenda?
Glenda needs your help to test the Peggi App and share your views about it.
If you want to help her, she will provide you with the link, where you can download the app onto your phone, tablet or iPad. She will also provide you with a user guide to get you started and arrange a time that suits you to get some feedback either by e-mail or phone.
Testing can last as long as you like and you decide when to give feedback. This may be 4 weeks or 8 weeks to give you a chance to test the app and its functions.
You will receive your £20 gift voucher once you have completed the feedback.
If you like using Peggi, you can simply carry on – for free!
