Wonderful Companionship Service

As a recent user of Myfolks we are delighted to share our fantastic experience with those considering a befriender/companionship service. Our 91 year old Aunt who has dementia lives a distance away. Over the Christmas period her neighbour who provides an enormous level of support was away for two weeks. We were concerned that our Aunt would miss this vital companionship and we wanted assurance she was keeping well, safe and was not absent in having social connection. Together we shared checking in our Aunt in addition to her regular carers. We requested 5 x 1 hour appointments on alternative days to our visits. Due to having a young family, distance and seeing our Mother in a care home we were unable to visit our Aunt on Christmas Day. We shared our concerns with Myfolks and immediately they assured us someone would visit. We have had a wonderful level of service. They explain clearly what they can offer and they understand the needs from both perspectives of the person requiring a companion and the relative organising the support. We have had the same Myfolks companion (who is just amazing!) throughout which helps with familiarity both for us and our Aunt. We also had an introduction meeting where our Aunt along with us met our Myfolks companion. This was key to ensure we had a good match, our Aunt felt comfortable and essential to locate the kettle! After each visit we choose either a call or text and the updates have been great. Myfolks provided us the much needed assurance. We have since agreed to now book a regular weekly appointment to provide some respite for our Aunt’s neighbour. Our Aunt enjoys her regular chats, discussion about the daily newspaper puzzle and a cream cake.
