Carents® is a national, community-led innovation which supports health and social care for older adults and their informal carers. We provide free support to thousands of unpaid adult carers every day, helping them to keep themselves and their older relatives safe and well.
57% of all carers look after an elderly parent (care-nts), they do it for love, compassion and to fill a gap. Their support is worth billions of pounds annually. There are 4 million at any one time with a disproportionate number of women. They are an unrecognised group, who take responsibility for the health and wellbeing of their elderly parents often at great personal cost. The negative impacts on finances, physical and mental health are well documented. Nationally, at least 400,000 unpaid carers leave the workforce every year with significant economic implications.
