Take a moment for you
On 9th October 2025, we will be holding the first ever Carents Day, a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the millions of adults in the UK caring for their elderly parents.
We know how busy life gets when you are caring for a parent. Putting yourself first can feel almost impossible, and yet self-care is essential. Carents Day is here to help you do just that. It is a free day filled with opportunities to pause, connect with others who understand, learn something new, and celebrate what you do.
There is no cost and no guilt, just time for you. Because when you look after yourself, you are better able to keep being there for them.
Why we are holding Carents Day
Carents are the unseen backbone of social care in the UK. You keep your parents safe, healthy and connected, often with little recognition or support.
For too long, the spotlight has fallen entirely on the person receiving care, leaving little space for the person giving it. Carenting is real, it is vital, and it deserves to be recognised.
The rest of the country needs to understand the difference you make and the support you need too.
Carents Day is our way of saying:
- You matter.
- Your wellbeing counts.
- You deserve a break, even if it is just for an hour.
We are bringing carents together from across the country for a day of short, online sessions you can dip into when you have time.
It’s not another obligation. It’s not homework. It’s a chance to feel lighter, learn something useful and connect with others who understand.
What is happening on Carents Day?
Across the day, we will run free, online events that you can join live or watch back later. Sessions include:
- Dealing with emotions like guilt: Practical ways to quiet that voice in your head that says you are never doing enough.
- Creative Writing workshop: No fancy kit or skills needed. A space to process and articulate what you’re going through with others who get it.
- Fitness advice for real life: How to stay active when time is short and when someone else’s needs feel more urgent.
All sessions are led by people who understand the realities of caring for an elderly parent.
Taster of Events

Our hope for Carents Day
This is the first Carents Day, but it will not be the last. We want it to become an annual moment when Carents can pause, feel valued, and know they are not alone.
It is a day to spark conversations, build connections, and help the people around you better understand what you do.
From family and friends to care services, employers, banks, shops, and support staff, we want those in your world to recognise the challenges you face and find ways to make life easier for you and the person you care for.
Because when you take even a small moment for yourself, it makes a difference. To you, and to the people you care for.
