News & Research Coffee Table

You Spoke. We Listened. And We’re Taking Action.

A woman looking after her elderly parents sharing a coffee and telling her story

At Carents, we know you’re doing one of the hardest jobs there is. Caring for an elderly parent while working, parenting, or just trying to hold life together can feel overwhelming. Often, it’s invisible. Unacknowledged. And unsupported.

That’s why earlier this year, we invited carents like you to take part in a series of focus groups. We didn’t go in with assumptions. We went in ready to listen.

You opened up with honesty and courage. You shared your daily struggles and quiet victories. You talked about the constant mental load, the emotional toll, and the exhaustion of feeling like you’re always on. You told us how hard it is to ask for help, to find balance, to be seen.

And we heard you.

What You Shared Changed Everything

Your stories left a lasting impact. They made us stop. Reflect. And commit to doing more.

We knew your voice needed to reach beyond that room. So we took action.

We launched a national survey to hear from more carents across the country. Over 1,000 of you stepped forward and shared your experiences. Your words shaped every part of what came next.

What you told us has now formed the heart of a new Carents Report. It’s not just full of data. It’s full of your stories, your challenges, and your ideas for what needs to change. Most importantly, it includes real, practical recommendations for employers and policymakers, grounded in what you said would actually make a difference.

This Report Is for You

This report exists because of you.

Because you were honest about the pressure you’re under. Because you trusted us with your experiences. And because you showed what real support should look like.

This isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about taking your voice to the people who can help create change in your workplace and beyond.

We’ve made it clear that being a carent is not a private struggle to carry alone. It’s a public issue that deserves understanding, action and care.

Our latest report captures the real, powerful stories of adult children caring for elderly parents. Stories shared in a series of focus groups led by Christine, a carent - and champion - of our Carents community.

These sessions weren’t just observed, they were co-created. Built with, and for, real carents. The insights reflect your lived experience, your challenges, your hopes.

These are your voices. Your words. Your truth.

You’ll see just how many people are walking this same path, calling for support, understanding, and real change.

Carer’s Assessments: What You Told Us and Why They Matter

We asked our Carents Lounge community if they’d had a carer’s assessment. The results reveal how few carers are accessing support they’re entitled to. In this article, we break down the poll findings, share your stories and provide guidance to help you understand and apply for a carer’s assessment through your local council.
