At Carents, we understand how it can sometimes be overwhelming to support a parent living with dementia. Whether you’re navigating changes in communication, memory or behaviour, the emotional and practical demands can, at times, feel relentless. That’s why we’re proud to announce that everyone at Carents has now become a Dementia Friend – and that we are officially recognised as a Dementia Friendly Organisation.
Why Dementia Friends matters
Dementia affects nearly one million people in the UK today. But the condition isn’t always well understood, and for many families, this leads to frustration, isolation and stigma.
Becoming a Dementia Friend is about more than just awareness. It means learning about the different ways dementia can affect someone – and what we can all do, in big ways and small, to help people living with dementia feel respected, supported and understood.
From taking extra time in a conversation to recognising when someone might be confused or anxious, Dementia Friends are there to create moments of patience, kindness and connection.
What we’re doing at Carents
At Carents, we’ve made a clear commitment:
- Every member of our team has completed a Dementia Friends awareness session.
- We proudly wear our forget-me-not badges to let others know we are Dementia Friends. It’s a small symbol, but it carries big meaning.
- We’re embedding dementia understanding into our content, resources and community conversations, so our platform remains a safe and supportive space for all Carents – especially those caring for a parent with dementia.
- We’re exploring new ways to support our community during Dementia Action Week, including sharing stories, helpful actions and guides for those caring for a parent with dementia. Look out for our upcoming features and events.
A note to our community
We know dementia can sometimes be one of the most challenging journeys for a Carent. It brings so many questions and emotions, and at times it can feel like no one understands. But here, you’re not alone.
Becoming a Dementia Friendly Organisation is just one of the ways we’re working to support you better. As always, we’ll continue to offer clear, expert advice, personal stories, and a community that gets it.
Whether you’re just starting to notice changes in a parent, or you’re deep in the day-to-day realities of caring for someone with dementia, we’re here. Here to offer understanding, encouragement and the information you need to navigate this time with compassion and confidence.
