Explaining jargon, acronyms, and technical terms
The language of care can be difficult to understand. The experts use so many different acronyms and technical terms that it can seem like they are speaking a completely different language. All this complicated care talk can make it hard to understand what’s going on and what you can do to help.
A care dictionary
A lot of carents have asked us to provide some sort of care dictionary – an explanation of all the acronyms, technical terms, and jargon. We have been defining some of the common terms over on social media using the hashtag #carewords but were delighted to find and install this jargon buster.
Help to develop the care dictionary
The jargon buster has been developed by the national partnership Think Local Act Personal (TLAP). TLAP is hosted by its partner organisation. the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).. If there are any words are phrases which are missing and you think should be included, then please email TLAP (think local act personal) using this address info@tlap.org.uk
